How to find an accountant

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn

Here at Yorkshire Accountancy we appreciate that potential clients may be reticent in signing up for our incredible, cost-effective personal service and that they are simply looking around for accountant they can work with.
This blog post is to help people find an accountant by illustrating what they should be looking for in their accountancy service.
Essentially, an accountant is going to be somebody who will work very closely with you to help drive your business forwards and give you timely and effective business advice.
Even though your search criteria may be looking for a cheap accountant, it is important that you do not waste money needlessly on accountancy services that you do not need. It’s also important to remember that time is money and so your search in finding an accountant should be quick and smooth.

Yorkshire accountancy offers incredible value for money

It’s important to note that with the technology available, you do not have to be on the doorstep of an accountant whose service you like – we have been established for several generations now and increasingly a lot of our client are from outside of Hull.
However, many people still like to make arrangements to have a face-to-face meeting with three or four different accountancy firms to find out more about charges and the services on offer.
This initial meeting should obviously be free of charge and it’s a good opportunity to find out how they handle the client relationship in the long term and to discover how long their regular clients remain with them.
This meeting is also a great opportunity in finding out the extra little bits of information you are keen to learn.

Yorkshire accountancy also offers cheap payroll and bookkeeping services

The meeting will also illustrate whether your accountant is willing to meet with you at your workplace or home and whether they offer additional services such as bookkeeping and payroll services.
It’s important to find out about their qualifications, how long they have been in business, whether they have any specialisms and to learn whether you can pay their accountancy fees in instalments, should this help your cash flow.
I only highlight the issue about asking for proof of qualifications since anyone in the UK can set themselves up in business as an accountant so it is important to find out whether they have qualifications from a recognised body such as ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW or ICAS.
Relevant certificates and qualifications should be on display and should you have any concerns then you should contact the professional body to confirm that the qualification is legitimate.

Our clients would recommend us as cheap accountants

Obviously, one of the best ways to find an accountant is by word-of-mouth but you could also use any of the search engines to find an accountancy firm in your area and arrange to see them.
Like most things in business, your final decision in finding an accountant, or a cheap accountancy service, is going to be down to personalities and whether you can work and trust the accountant you select.
Good luck in your search in finding a cheap accountant or accountancy service!
